5 things about the latest update in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Here are five things you might not know about the latest November update from ACNH.

Contents

Mushrooms

Yep, you read it right mushrooms. Although they have been in previous Animal Crossing titles, they feel a lot more important in New Horizons, because they are used for the new mushroom DIY’s.  Mushrooms will not spawn near coconut or bamboo trees or their stumps, however they will grow near cedar, hardwood, and fruit trees and their stumps.

Maple leaves

Maple leaves, yep leaves. If you played from April 1 to April 10 you might have seen cherry blossoms which you can catch with any kind of net. The maple leaves are the same.

Tips on how to catch them – some maple leaves are not catchable. how you will know which ones are catchable is simple – catchable leaves have shadows under them. To catch one sneak up on it and don’t run into it or else it will disappear.

Christmas trees

If you are a time traveler you might have seen that some of your pine trees will have lights on them, if you shake them ornaments will fall on the ground. Ornaments can be used in the toy day themed items.

What about tree branches?

If you always craft tools like a fishing rod or net you need tree branches, so shake a tree that does not have lights on it to get your “precious” tree branches. Note tree branches are NOT new to the update.

Franklin

Franklin is a turkey that will appear in the plaza (aka resident services). He will have 4 dishes for you to help him make (for ingredients check out our Turkey Day guide.)   If you make all of the dishes you will get exclusive turkey day items. The next day in the Nook’s Cranny you can buy some turkey day recipes for 20,000 bells.

Jingles

Jingles, the Black Nosed Reindeer, he has been in several other animal crossing titles. In new Horizons he will appear on toy day, Dec 25. Get prepared for toy day by buying the Santa outfit, found in the Able sisters so that you can work for him on toy day. On toy day he will give you a sack of presents that you have to give to your villagers. when your done he will give you a present.
